PORT ELIZABETH | Gqeberha
Artec is a non-profit organization and community art centre, set up 95 years ago for the advancement of the visual arts and crafts in Port Elizabeth. We work to uplift and encourage the art community in our area by providing artists, both up and coming and more established, with an exhibition space, art workshops (for both adults and children) and educational talks, and encouraging a public interest in the arts.
Artec has just moved premises, and thanks to the kind sponsorship of the local Catholic Diocese, have taken occupation of premises at no 19 Sherlock St, Richmond Hill. Some paintings and reorganising is underway, and we have reason to be excited.
The present Chairman is Lez Dor-Barker and there is an active committee of young and old artists and art enthusiasts working hard to uplift the arts in Gqeberha.
