The Visual Arts Department of the University of Pretoria held a post-graduate practice-led research event and conference in April 2014.

Shifts is an event focused on exploring practice-led research in the visual arts through the encounter with creative making that produces shifts in meaning, experience and interpretation.

The event comprises an exhibition and a conference that may include formal papers, doodles, mind-maps, paraphernalia, performances and objects that exemplify creative, exploratory, practice-led research.
