East London Fine Arts Society (ELFAS)

Formed in November 1925 and following on the activities after 1946 when the Ann Bryant Art Gallery was established, the society played a meaningful role in gathering art to bolster the bequest by Mrs Ann Bryant and purchased a number of artworks for the collection over the years.  At present the society has 90 paid-up members and is affiliated to the South African National Association for the Visual Arts, SANAVA.  The society holds an annual exhibition of members’ work in the Gallery, as well as a Peep Show, of miniature paintings, and Anything but Paint exhibition.
